Worked example
A lease signed on 10/12/2023 and in force from 01/01/2024, with a rent of €800.00. On 01/01/2026, the indexed rent is €806.98: €800.00 × 145.77 ÷ 144.51.
The rules in France
- When
- Once a year, on the date in the lease, only if the lease has a revision clause. Not claimed within a year, the revision is lost.
- Index
- Rent reference index (IRL, INSEE), published quarterly.
- Calculation
- Current rent × IRL of the reference quarter ÷ IRL of the same quarter a year earlier.
- Limits
- Not allowed for dwellings rated F or G (DPE). Rent control in some cities.
